How to choose cloud hosting in India
Start with what your website or application needs to do and who will look after it. Then compare the resources, connectivity, support and total cost. This guide explains the choices for a business website, internal tool or development project, including where Antarix’s current offer fits.
VM, VPS or managed WordPress: what is the difference?
Virtual machines and Linux VPS hosting
A virtual machine is a separate operating-system environment on a physical host. VPS, or virtual private server, is a common hosting term for this kind of service. You typically choose resources and run your own software, but management and network access vary by provider. Check those details rather than assuming every VPS plan works the same way.
Antarix offers early-access Linux virtual machines in India, with team-assisted provisioning and browser terminal access to an assigned VM. The current path uses ARM64 Linux; check that your software supports that architecture. Domain-based HTTPS web workloads are the initial fit. Dedicated public IPs, public SSH and arbitrary inbound ports are not included.
Managed WordPress hosting
Managed hosting is a choice about who does the work. For a WordPress website, agree who handles setup, updates, backups, restores and troubleshooting. It does not automatically include content editing, paid plugin licences, email or unlimited sites.
Choose Antarix managed WordPress hosting when you want help operating a WordPress website under an agreed service scope. Choose a VM when you need your own compatible application stack and can take on the agreed administration responsibilities. Both require workload and capacity review.
What about shared hosting?
Shared hosting usually packages website space and common hosting tools with less operating-system control. It can suit a straightforward website, but compare the actual limits and responsibilities. Antarix’s current catalogue describes VMs and managed WordPress; it does not promise a conventional shared-hosting control panel.
Choose resources for the work, not just the plan name
- Memory: account for the operating system, application, database and busy periods. An app and database on the same VM share its RAM.
- CPU: describe whether work comes in short bursts or runs continuously. Ask about sustained capacity as well as vCPU count.
- Storage: include uploads, database growth, logs and temporary space. Confirm backup storage and retention separately.
- Traffic: record peak use, large uploads, long requests and live connections. Monthly visits alone do not describe how hard an application works.
- Compatibility: list the runtime, operating system, plugins, container images and external integrations you require.
If you are unsure of the numbers, describe a typical day and the busiest expected event. Our team can review those requirements before proposing resources; a plan name alone is not a capacity guarantee.
Check what “hosted in India” covers
Ask where the application and primary database run, where backups are held and which other providers process requests or information. Hosting location alone does not establish a legal or compliance outcome. Antarix hosts customer workloads and their primary stored data in India; website delivery uses Cloudflare. Request the service-specific details you need for your own review.
Also check how people connect. If your application requires a dedicated public IP, public database endpoint, VPN or custom public ports, Antarix’s current early-access offer is not a fit. Read the networking limits and current security controls.
Prepare a quote you can compare
Send your workload description, approximate memory and storage, traffic pattern, site count, connectivity needs and migration timing. State who will manage the software and what help you need. Do not put credentials or private customer data in the public enquiry form.
Compare the same billing period, taxes, resources and support scope across proposals. Confirm recurring storage, transfer, backup, migration and renewal charges. Antarix currently quotes workloads in INR with GST as applicable. Use the hosting cost comparison checklist before committing.
Plan the move before changing DNS
Agree the handover, backup and rollback steps first. Test the site or application, HTTPS, logins, forms and integrations before switching traffic. Decide how edits or orders made during migration will be carried across, and who checks the result. Keep the old hosting until the agreed acceptance and recovery conditions are met.
For an existing site, follow the WordPress migration checklist. For account and VM access, read the customer onboarding guide. Ready to discuss a workload? Request a hosting review.
